Diagnostic Imaging
Mercer Medicine offers high-quality outpatient imaging that's fast, accurate, and convenient.
Our imaging services are accredited through American College of Radiology and our specially-trained, licensed technologists use state-of-the-art equipment to provide you with a variety of services, including:
X-ray
An X-ray is a quick and painless imaging test that takes pictures of bones and soft tissue inside your body. These pictures help your healthcare provider diagnose various conditions and identify broken bones and dislocated joints. X-ray is available at our Macon, Clay County, Harris County, and Plains locations.
ABI Test
An ankle-brachial index test, or ABI test, is a quick, non-invasive way to check for peripheral artery disease. This test compares the measurement of your blood pressure at the ankle with the reading at your arm. The results can indicate narrowing or blockage of the arteries in your legs. ABI tests are available only at our Macon location.
CT
Computed tomography, or CT, is an advanced form of x-ray that uses computer technology to take pictures inside your body to help diagnose medical issues. It can obtain more detailed images than a standard x-ray. CT is available only at our Macon location.
CTA
A computed tomography angiogram (CTA) is an imaging test to view your body's major arteries using a CT scanner and an injection of contrast dye. The results of this study can help your physician determine if you have a serious heart condition such as stenosis, heart blockage, or blood clots. CTA is available only at our Macon location.
Bone Density Test
A bone density test, or DEXA scan, is a test that measures the strength or density of your bones. It provides your physician with details about your risk for osteoporosis and fractures. Bone density tests are available only at our Macon location.
Echocardiogram
Echocardiogram uses ultrasound technology to see how blood moves through your heart. The results help your physician determine if you have abnormalities and extra fluid around your heart. Echocardiogram tests are available only at our Macon location.
Electrocardiogram
An electrocardiogram, or EKG test, is an easy way for your physician to get information about your heart's electrical activity for diagnostic purposes. Electrocardiograms are available at all of our Mercer Medicine locations.
Exercise Stress Test
The most basic heart stress test involves walking on a treadmill while a cardiologist monitors a continuous EKG tracing of your heart. This test helps your physician further evaluate your heart's electrical activity, blood pressure response, and overall fitness level. Stress testing is available only at our Macon location.
Nuclear Cardiac Imaging
Nuclear cardiology is an advanced imaging test that uses a small radioactive tracer to visualize blood flow to the heart muscle as well as heart function. Nuclear imaging is available only at our Macon location.
Pulmonary Function Test
Pulmonary function tests, also called lung function tests, measure how well your lungs work. Pulmonary function tests are available only at our Macon location.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound testing uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of the organs inside your body. It's commonly used to view organs like the uterus, bladder, kidneys, and heart, as well as the thyroid and parathyroid glands. Ultrasound is available only at our Macon location.
Vascular Ultrasound
Vascular Ultrasound is a non-invasive procedure that uses sound waves to evaluate the body's circulatory system, help identify blockages in the arteries and veins, and detect blood clots. Vascular ultrasounds are available only at our Macon location.
